Hello! And welcome to another Travel Tuesday post, I do like these days when I share past holiday escapades with you guys. It's lovely to reminisce about gorgeous places from the comfort of my sofa whilst the weather outside is frightful {apologies for slipping into a Christmas song but I miss Christmas already - what can I say!?} Today we're taking a trip down memory lane to the sunshine of Spain and a trip to Barcelona back in the April of 2004.
This trip is my only trip to Spain so far (well except when I was two but that doesn't count as I can't remember it!) and I absolutely adored every moment of it. We were there for a long weekend and stayed just off Las Ramblas in a two bedroom apartment which was perfect as we were able to explore the city easily on foot. During our stay we...
- Explored the history of Barcelona thanks to the Museu d'Historia de Barcelona, the Cathedral and the numerous churches we visited
- Paddled in The Mediteranean
- Explored the tiny streets and delved into the numerous shops (high street and artisan)
- Discovered Patatas Bravas and other delightful Tapas treats at the sensationally good Taller de Tapas
- Fell in love with the architecture of Gaudi thanks to the Park Guell and Sangrada Familia
- Visited the many markets of Las Ramblas and surrounding areas
- Learnt more about Picasso at the Museo Picasso
- Saw the amazing city from above thanks to the cable cars we rode over the city - absolutely stunning views!
- Learnt about the life of Salvador Dali and saw numerous of his stunning works in the flesh
A rubbish picture of the stunning architecture at Parc Guell
The Museu National D'Art
I really hope that one day soon I make it back to Barcelona as it's such an energetic, vibrant and culturally extensive city and there's still so much I wish to explore - I just need to win the lottery first I suppose. Sad times indeed. What about you, have you ever been to Barcelona and did you love it too?
Oh, I love Barcelona! I remember I went for the first time when I was about 15. I was convinced I would someday live there (and maybe I will). It's just so beautiful and laid back. Thanks for letting me relive Barcelona with you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I agree it's a wonderful city and to live there would be a dream come true! x
DeleteOh how I love Barcelona as well, I went for 12 days in 2008 and it was amazing - spent my NY's there - amazing, creative and inspiring city. I love your flashback post and those photos are amazing
