2014 Holiday Planning - Travel Tuesday

So as it's the very first Travel Tuesday link up of 2014 it seemed logical (at least to my little pea-sized excuse for a brain) to focus on my travel plans for the next 12 months. I love planning my trips for the year (or at least getting a vague idea of dates and places) in January as it gives me something to look forward to in the stressful and depressing moments that inevitable arrive. There's nothing better than pouring over hotel options or scouring the net for cheap flights when it's dark and depressing outside and your windows are being buffeted with driving rain. It gives you something lovely to look forward to for the rest of the year as you know that the dreadful weather and wild winds are only a temporary situation.

So with that thought in mind last week I got on with the task of divvying up my holiday days (just 25 this year sadly) and mentally pinning drawing pins across maps of Europe. So as a result my 2014 holidays look a little something like the below...

Amsterdam - I can't wait for this trip it's going to be such fun to see all the tulip markets, canals and museums, to cycle everywhere and of course visit the Anne Frank Museum.

Cambridge - I'm thinking it'll be all about messing around on the river, strolling through the University Campus, cycling down the narrow streets and eating yummy comfort food.

Liverpool - This trip will be all about the Beatles experience, the shopping, cocktails and hopefully some culture. {Although I have no idea what is cultural in Liverpool, but I'm sure there are loads of things!}

Portugal - I'm off for a week in the Portugal sunshine for my birthday. Fingers crossed for sunshine, swimming, gorgeous food and precious family time.

Scotland - Now this one is not set in stone, not even slightly if I'm honest, but I really fancy heading up to Scotland again. Either to explore Aberdeen or Glasgow for the first time, revisit Edinburgh or maybe I'll finally make it to one of gorgeous lochs or islands (or maybe even skiing that would be cool!}. I really don't know where I'll go, if I go at all, but I really want to organise something around Scotland way to enjoy it's beauty again.

What about you, what are you planning for your travels in 2014? And can you suggest any must visits for the cities I'm heading too? All ideas are most welcome!

    1. Fingers crossed it will work out - it's just so complicated trying to organise others isn't it? Worse comes to the worst I'll be heading up there on my own as I really really want to visit it! x

  4. There's tons of museums in Liverpool! There's a tate modern I think it was with different exhibits, and the maritime museum is good too. There's awesome bars and pubs tucked away in side streets. I'd like to go to Cambridge too.

    1. Oh the maritime museum sounds interesting and I was hoping the bars/pubs would be awesome so that's good to hear. Cambridge is meant to be absolutely beautiful and I'd love wandering those historic streets. Hopefully one day you'll make it there for a visit! x
