Travel Tuesday - the current dream

For today's Travel Tuesday link up I thought I'd share one of my current travelling dreams, so here goes...

Recently I've been watching a fair bit of the Winter Olympics - hasn't it been wonderful? I basically wasted the whole of Saturday morning when I got sucked in to the parallel slalom finals. It was just fascinating to watch! Whilst I've been watching these amazing athletes I've started to get a bit of a yearning for snow myself, more specifically I want to go skiing.

Now I'm most definitely not a skier, in fact I've only been once in my life, when I was about 16. Not really the ideal age to learn to ski if you ask me as I was a little bit too scared and didn't allow myself to get stuck in to it as I probably should have done. However I absolutely loved skiing and even made it up some of the red runs whilst I was there, but I've just not gone back, which now I think about it is quite a shame! I love the idea of days spent on the slopes or sat drinking hot chocolates halfway down and just imagining the beautiful snowy vistas has me green with envy as I hear of yet more friends heading to the slopes. The problem is it's quite expensive and I feel like I really need to go with people that are a similar standard (basically a newbie) to me - so I can't imagine myself going for at least another few years. So for now the dream of looking awesome on the slopes will have to wait for a while yet. Sad times indeed.

Where do you long to go that you can't imagine you will do for a while yet?

  1. I want to go on a skiing holiday too! But you're right, so expensive. Apparently a good place to go is Andorra because it's cheaper, someone in the know told me. We've been learning to ski on an indoor slope near us, and even that gets scary to me!

    1. Oh Andorra I hadn't thought of there, maybe I'll look into prices for there. I know what you mean about the scariness, but at least real snow is softer than the fake weird gridded matting stuff! Fingers crossed you get to go soon too!

  2. I skied a bit when I was younger. I wasn't great at it and hated moguls, but I liked down hill skiing through a big smooth bowl. :)
My dream place is Asia, Chaing Mai or Japan. Don't see that happening any time soon.

    1. Oh I'd love to visit Japan too, it seems so different to anything else I've ever experienced. Fingers crossed it happens one day soon for you.

  3. I dream of going to Madagascar just to take pictures! I think I have a mental block about it though because it is such a mysterious place and I feel like I'm not a good enough photographer yet to warrant the trip. I guess there are always reasons not to go somewhere. One day, I will just have to decide to GO!

    1. Yes you definitely just need to go, I'm sure your photography would be stunning and even if it's not you'll have all these amazing visual memories. I bet Madagascar would just be amazing!

    1. If we throw in a cheese fondue it'll be the perfect week ever - shall we do it?!

    2. Ha! Cheese fondue, I'm sold! Who else could we round up for this adventure?

    3. Do we need to invite anyone else? The more people who come the more people there are to eat all the cheese...
